VEGAS BETTING ODDS: OREGON DUCKS (-4 1/2) vs. COLORADO BUFFALOES ~ TOTAL: (135 1/2)
COLORADO: (19-5) – (8-3 PAC-12) ~ OREGON: (18-6) – (7-4 PAC-12)
FIRST MEETING: JAN. 2, 2020 – COLORADO won at Home 74-65.
Only one CBB game on docket for Thursday night with two Top 25 teams. Also this game tonight between Colorado and Oregon has huge implications in Pac-12 play as Oregon sits one game behind first place Colorado and a win ties them atop the standings and gives them the exact same record too. Oregon two weeks ago had look of the best team and then they went on Road and lost their last two games badly, thanks to horrific second half shooting. Colorado though comes in red hot winning 3 straight games. Both teams like to shoot the 3-ball and so in end it’s how they fare in that department that usually decides the winner.
In the first meeting Oregon was a horrendous (3-18) from 3-land and simply put when they shoot the 3’s well they win, if not they lose. This is another game featuring two of the top Offensive Effeciency teams as Oregon is #10 and Colorado is #34.
Oregon is simply a totally different team at Home in Eugene as they are (12-0) and they seem to score at ease on their home court. In their last 9 games they have scored 96. 79, 78. 74, 98, 84, 81, 89, and 78 points. They play very loose and fast and the Offense plays at a very high level at Home. I’ve said often this years batch of CBB teams across the country is the weakest in 20 years and this proves it as Oregon on Road last two games scored 53 and 60 points.
Colorado as mentioned above comes in red hot winning 3 straight games and vaulting into first place alone. Now they though will go on Road, a place they have suffered 4 of their 5 losses this season. For most part they are a lot like the Ducks as they don’t score well on Road. They didn’t hit 69 points in any of the 4 road losses.
Oregon at Home this year has already picked off wins against the #3-4-5-6 teams in Pac-12 play. Three of those 4 wins came by 9 points or more. When Oregon hits 33% from 3-land or more this year they are an incredible (16-1).
In 4 of the Buffs road losses they allowed over 33% from 3-land by the opposing team. Oregon averages 37% from 3-land this year.
Oregon has beaten Colorado 5 straight years at Home in Eugene.
Both these teams are very good Offensively but both at times will struggle badly as both rely heavily on the 3-ball. Oregon is coming off 3 straight games on the Road so the tough (1-2) record in those 3 was not too shocking. The Pac-12 isn’t the best league, but for most part they are all very close to each other as far as talent goes. Colorado in it’s 3 Road games in Pac-12 play have lost to UCLA and USC, losing to Arizona. In the first meeting the Ducks top shooter P. Pritchard hit just 1 of 6 three’s. At Home he hits everything he seems to take, even shots from 35 feet out. He loves this court. Oregon is a deep team playing 9 guys double digit minutes. This is a recipe to help them play fast and at Home it’s turned into a successful one as they average (83.4) points per game in Eugene. You won’t lose many games scoring 84 points in a given game. Colorado hasn’t played that many true road games this year but they simply are a different team on Road as they average only (65.2) points per game away. They did beat USC at their place by 21 points, so you can’t discount them out here totally. I’ve said often it’s very hard for two teams that are basically dead even to have one pull off a season sweep. Last night Villanova got revenge over Marquette. It’s a tall task and one I don’t see Colorado pulling off here tonight. I’d expect Pritchard to go off and score 30+, hitting 5 or 6 threes. The past 4 visits the Buffs made to Eugene they walked out losing in blowouts every single time. Losses by 15, 28, 20 and 13 points. I am not sure they lose by double digits or beat down badly here, but they will lose, likely by 7 point range. Oregon gets it’s revenge and keeps the Pac-12 in disarray as the Ducks get back into a first place tie making for some fun last 2 weeks of Conference play to decide a Pac-12 Champion.
Enjoy the game tonight and may all your Wagers be WINNING ones!
