ELITE SHADOW BETS STAFF “GAME OF THE NIGHT” FULL PREVIEW: SIXERS @ HEAT (MON. FEB. 3, 2020)
ROAD STRUGGLING SIXERS LOOK TO EVEN SEASON SERIES WITH WIN AT ALMOST UNBEATABLE AT HOME HEAT SQUAD!
VEGAS BETTING ODDS: MIAMI HEAT (-2 1/2) vs. PHILLY SIXERS ~ TOTAL: (212)
SIXERS: (31-19) – (9-17 ROAD) ~ HEAT: (33-15) – (21-3 HOME)
Tonight we will highlight the biggest game of the night over in the NBA as two Higher up East teams will face off for the fourth and final time this season. Last season now Heat Forward Jimmy Butler played for the Sixers. Tonight he will enjoy facing off against his former mates and try to help his team win this season series (3-1) with a win. The Sixers come in reeling terribly on the Road this year, losing 17 of it’s 26 away from Home. The Heat have only suffered 3 Home losses all season and two were to the Clippers and Celtics, so no shame in those Home losses. The Sixers lost their last 2 games, both on Road, with one @ Boston by 21, and one against bottom feeder Atlanta, also by double digits. This was supposed to be a loaded Sixers team and it simply has been anything but that. They have won only 2 of their past 9 Road games with one terrible loss after another. In those 7 Road losses they were beaten by 21, 10, 12, 18, 10, 18 and 6. They are barely competitive in these bad losses.
These two have met 3x with the Heat winners of 2 of the 3, including a 117-116 Overtime win in Miami on Dec. 28, 2019. The Heat are now playing their 6th Home game in their last 7 games so they have really no travel fatigue as the only Road game was up the Florida state East Coast line to Orlando.
The Sixers are one of these teams who has a superstar sitting out games often for one ailment or another, as their elite stud Center Joel Embiid is a guy they need in the lineup nightly to be a serious contender. In that earlier last meeting OT loss Embiid scored 35 points and had 11 rebounds. His last game back from a stint sitting out (again) he was just (1-11) from the field. That and the fact the Sixers were atrocious the past two games shooting 3’s (16-64) and unless something changes by Embiid’s shooting or the deep ball gets much, much better, this team will keep losing on the Road. It surely doesn’t help the Sixers help that the guy Butler was traded for, J. Richardson, will be out tonight for this game (avg. 15 points a game). The Sixers are just really bad vs. Zone Defense and yet they are too lazy to stop taking ill advised 3’s.
The Heat are a team in good shape with some young talent as they have two sensational Rookies, T. Herro and K. Nunn (16 pts game). They also have a super young stud talent in leading scorer Bam Adebajo (21 points per game). It’s been quite impressive to see how these young Rookies have meshed so well with a savvy old veteran like Jimmy Butler. This Heat team doesn’t lack scoring threats as they average 112 points per game.
Look there is no sugar coating this Sixers team has one of the worst Head Coaches in the NBA and it shows up on the Road in a really ugly way. Teams all play better at Home and the Sixers are maybe now one of 3 best Home teams (22-2 so far in Philly-land). But the good Head Coaches figure a game plan on Road to offset the opposing usually wild crowd. Not Sixers HC Brown. He’s simply terrible at X’s and O’s and making adjustments. This is like a Playoff game in a sense for the Sixers. If they lose here they lose this season series to a team that is one of really 5 teams vying for seeds 2-3-4 in East. Currently the Heat have a full 3 game lead over Philly. Toronto, Boston and Indiana all have very strong teams so a loss here for Philly just makes climb in second half higher and higher to at worst grab a #4 seed and get Home court advantage for their first Playoff Series. You look at the Sixers next opponent (on the Road as well) and it’s top seed Milwaukee Bucks, who are 23-3 at Home. A loss here and another Thursday on Road will put the Sixers in a deep hole they likely never dig out of in their hunt for at least a top 4 Seed in the East. You are getting a cheap line on Heat side laying just a tad over on basket and no value on a Sixers team that simply has not even been very competitive on the Road thus far in this NBA season now approaching the All Star Break in another week. I’d expect the Sixers to bring the strong effort, but they have shot so terribly from 3 of late this isn’t the time to take a bet on them. This is by far the best match up on a very weak overall College Hoops and NBA card and so there will be much better value spots ahead this new week.
