Well the Sixers will conclude their first Half of the season with a Home game, a place they have been almost flawless this year, losing only twice in 26 tries in front of their Home fans. It was is almost a “tale of two different teams” we are seeing a team at Home that seems like a Finals Contender, but this same group on the Road can’t get out of it’s own way. The talent is there, but the Head Coaching is possibly worst in league and the energy on the Road isn’t there either. This team only seems to play with energy when playing at Home. It’s almost something you wouldn’t believe if you didn’t actually see it. They have lost their past 5 Road games by 11, 31, 21, 10 and 12 points. It’s truly mind boggling this is the same exact team on Road and at Home.
On the other side of the USA, we have one of the two LA teams in town, this one being the Clippers version of the two. The Clippers team isn’t in first, but it’s not like they seem to care about that, as they rest their top stud, Kawhi Leonard, it seems like every other game to rest. They will be playing their third straight Road game Tuesday night and they will likely again be playing without their Defensive Madman, Patrick Beverly. They played their last game, a blowout win 133-92 over the hapless Cavs without Leonard the other night, with most of the starters out early as the game was decided by Halftime. This is a team that has played one game close in their last 7 games overall. The one close game was decided by 3 points, and the other 6 decided by 41, 27, 17, 12, 21 and 15 points. All basically blowout type games. This is their second to last game before the All Star Break, with one more on Thursday @ Boston.
The Sixers had a four game Road trip end in pure Hell as they not only lost all 4, but played like garbage in all 4. Since the 4 game Road losing skid, they returned home where you would think the league is allowing them to play 6 against 5. They have now won 10 straight Home games and only twice have they not won by double digits. In both those games they still won by 7 points. They won these last two by 12 and 11 points. After the 4 game Road skid they returned Home and in need of a new spark and boy did they find one in F. Korkmaz, who lit up the scoreboard for 34 and 31 points. He shot 7-9 and 6 for 11 from 3-Land in these last two Sixers games and really provided some much needed energy as well and helped aide PG Ben Simmons, who has been a one man show in the Road losses of late.
The Sixers will get a mini boost as two newcomers will both play this time around after both coming in via Trade this past week. Glenn Robinson III did suit up last game and added a solid 10 points on 5-6 shooting. They will add the other add on Alex Burks vs. Clippers and he’s a solid deep threat this team will love (37% this year from deep). The Clippers also got a nice add, M. Morris from the Knicks, who is having a fantastic season (high avg. pts scored 20PPG) and (44% from 3-land). He added 10 points in his first game donning his new LA uni.
SIXERS HAVE OWNED THE CLIPPERS OF LATE
The Sixers have beaten the Clippers 7 straight times and you can be assured Clipper HC Doc Rivers has let his team know that.
This is the Sixers last game before a extended All Star Break and you would think they would go out and play fast and loose and full of energy trying to end the first half on a Winning note. The Clippers have rarely played with both new add on Superstars, Leonard or Paul George, this season. They both are likely to play in this game though which gives us kinda a Playoff type atmosphere. For those with short memories, the last time Leonard faced these Sixers, he was wearing a Raptors uniform. It was his last second miracle shot at the buzzer that rimmed in and out and in out and in to end the Sixers Playoffs and season at the same time. It was truly a “Nightmare” ending for the boyz from Philly and a memory they’d love to gain some revenge here. The Clippers aren’t same without Beverly and he’s a big loss vs. Simmons in this game. Leonard and George though love these type of games much more than playing teams like the Cavs. They thrive under the big pressure situations. I’d fully expect this game to be really exciting and both teams playing it like it’s a Playoff game. I could see this game getting chippy too with lots of fouls. The Sixers are beating most opponents at Home by wide margins and now you can get them at Pick’em for the point spread. Wow. But this is the Clippers so a double digit win again isn’t likely for this contest. This game should be close but we see it more of a higher scoring shootout. The Clippers have scored at least 115 in 4 of their past 5 games and should get to that mark here too. The Sixers should also reach the 115 mark too making this a solid play on “OVER 225”.
