NY JETS OFFENSE (#31) (76 RUSH/196 PASS)   vs.  BALTY RAVENS DEFENSE (#6) (96 RUSH/219 PASS allowed)

BALTY RAVENS OFFENSE (#2) (201 RUSH/207 PASS)   vs.  NY JETS DEFENSE (#7) (79 RUSH/242 PASS allowed)

Well fokls the hottest team in the NFL is the Baltimore Ravens as they’ve won 9 straight games. They have been impressive beating all the big heavyweights, including Seattle, Rams, Patriots, Bills, Niners and Texans. This has been no fluke. This team is loaded and are clearly the Favorite now to win the Super Bowl. The Ravens lead the league in scoring (33.1) points. The rush and pass both for over 200 yards per game. This is almost impossible to achieve. They have the brightest young star QB (dead head with KC Mahomes) in QB Lamar Jackson. Being an Option QB in CFB has always had big success. In the NFL it hasn’t. But Jackson is changing that as he is a wrecking machine, passing and running it. He has 2.677 pass yards, 1,017 rush yards and 35 TD’s (28 via pass) and four 100 yard rushing games. He then has the 3 headed “M” machine to help him on Offense. He has RB M. Ingram (four 100 yard rushing games) and two stud receivers. He has speedy WR M. Brown and stud Tight End M. Edwards. You simply can’t single up on all these guys and Jackson has made Defenses pay for the one left open.

Baltimore is a solid (5-1) straight up at Home but just (2-4) ATS. They have scored 50 points or more once this season, 40 points or more 3x, 30 points or more 2x and their season low is 20 points. They have Home wins by 6, 6, 17, 34, and 3 points with the one Home loss a terrible beating to the Browns by 15 points. In their 9 game win streak the Defense has allowed only (15.1) points per game.

Now let’s look at the Jets. They looked for a few weeks like worst NFL team all team. But once young QB Sam Darnold returned, they greatly improved. They have won 4 of their last 5 games. But in their 5 wins this season, none have come against a team with a winning record. The combined record of the teams they beat is (14-39). On the Road the Jets are just (1-5) straight up. Their 5 losses have come by 16, 25, 14, 8 and 16. Their road win was over 3 win Washington, 34-17. The Jets have some decent talent. They are needy in lots of places, but they have one of the best Defensive Players in the league in J. Adams. He missed last weeks game. He is supposed to suit up tonight. Now though the Jets are down another key secondary player as CB D. Roberts was hurt last week and is now out for the season. The Jets Defense has played the most different combinations of any secondary in the NFL due to injuries. They also will be without CB Poole. It’s hard to just replace key players in the secondary, but the Jets have no choice. Adams almost must play or they have no chance of an Upset tonight. The Jets Rush Defense is fantastic (#2 in the NFL) allowing only 76 Rushing yards per game. They allow only (3.3) yards per carry. They are also the league best with 98 tackles for loss or no gain. They load the box and have some great tacklers on the front lines. Facing the #1 Rushing team in the Ravens though will clearly be their hardest task all season. The Jets Defense the past 6 weeks has kept the team in every game allowing 21, 22, 3, 17, 27 and 26 points. They Jets tonight will be facing only the second team with a Winning record and we all know the bad teams this year are all really Bad. They missed stud RB L. Bell last week, but he should start tonight. He will be needed to grind out first downs and keep the Ravens Loaded Offense off the field.

The Ravens Defense up front should be able to get to Jets QB Darnold. Jets QB’s have been sacked 47x and will face a blitz happy Ravens Defense. For the Jets to win tonight, they must beat the blitz and the Jets have two wide outs who can win man to man coverage. Top Jets WR R. Anderson  has 18 catches and 303 pass yards and 2 TD’s the past few weeks and he can make some deep catches go for TD’s. J. Crowder is also a solid receiving threat. Darnold must get the ball out fast, and get it into Bell, Anderson and Crowders hands and let them go for the big yards after the catch. In their 9 game win streak, the Ravens Defense has been fantastic, allowing only 17, 17, 6, 7, 13, 20, 16, 17 and 23 points. This means Darnold can NOT turn the ball over. Bell must be able to at least slow the loading of the box by the Ravens Defense.

The good news tonight for Jets fans and bettors, Ravens QB Jackson is nursing a sore quadriceps. So he may not run options as much and that will make it easier on Jets Defense to just stop Ingram.

You will never get rich betting the worst teams, and the Oddsmakers know it. That’s why they made Ravens over a two TD favorite. Ravens HC Harbaugh’s track record laying big points isn’t great. Having Jackson slowed some isn’t a help when laying over 2 TD’s. This is a tough game to call when key players have some not so good injuries, but are going to play. Worry is how long does Jackson last? If he doesn’t last whole game it will be tough to cover 16.

Enjoy game tonight whoever you bet on.
