Well two teams in desperate need of a Win face off for this week’s Sunday Night Bailout Game of the week in the NFL. The Steelers just keep losing key players, most notably their top 2 QB’s and now they also will be missing their best cover CB, Steve Nelson. It’s never easy going cross country and playing out of your own Division, making it worse they come into this affair off a heart breaking Overtime Loss last week to it’s rival the Ravens. They lost their young and talented QB Rudolph, so now it’s a guy filling in at the most important position, undrafted Rookie D. Hodges. He was forced into action late last week and looked pretty good, going (7-9) for 68 yards. He’s a mobile QB with good legs and a very accurate arm as well. He won the equivalent of the Heisman Trophy last year in the FCS. He has the tools, just lacks the experience.

The Chargers looked lost on Offense last week losing to then win less Denver, scoring only 2 FG’s from it’s Offense. They have actually now gone 6 quarters in a row at Home without scoring an Offensive TD. Now to make matters worse for them, their elite Pro Bowl Center Mike Pouncey is out (season neck surgery), making them do a double move on the Off Line. Now the LG will move to Center and they will put in a new guy at LG. They now will start an Off Line of just one starter with 3 years or more experience, as their other elite OL Okung, is also out with injury.

The Bolts did get to see the return of their long time stud RB Melvin Gordon last week, but he only carried the ball a dozen times for 31 total rush yards. He’s going to be asked to carry ball likely 25x this week as the Bolts look to offset a hard charging solid Steelers Defensive Front that is #2 in the NFL in sacks. The key is always how QB Rivers does for the Chargers, and last week was one of his worst games of his career. It will be interesting to see who the Steelers try to cover the Bolts top WR K. Allen with as he could really have a big day if this new look Chargers OL can give him time to throw the ball.

The Steelers have to play a near perfect game here as they will get the most focused Chargers unit we likely see all year. They gained a measly 246 Total Yards last week, imploded in the Red Zone and it’s unlikely that happens two weeks in a row at Home.

The Chargers Defense has allowed two teas to gain over 190 rushing yards this season, but it’s hard to see how the Steelers take advantage of that weakness as RB Conner has not gained over 55 yards rushing yet all season. Making matters worse for the Steelers Offense is that without Antonio Brown in the lineup, the new #1 WR Juju Smith-Shuster is not matching his number of a year ago. Now that he’s covered by opposing Defenses number 1 corner, he’s not gaining those big yards. It doesn’t help the other Steelers Wideouts are butterfingers for hands. The Steelers also will be without a solid weapon in J. Washington  and another decent weapon in RB Samuels. The Steelers Offense is the third worst in the NFL, so if you are betting the Steelers you may need to say a rosary or two first. The only thing I’ve seen that is good news for the Steelers is that new QB’s starting their first game this year are (7-0) ATS. The Steelers are (+5) in turnover margin, well coached and have lost now by 2, 3 and 4 points, showing they are still competitive. They are also (7-1) ATS as a Road Underdog last 8x in that situation.

The Chargers are (2-3) and just (1-2) at Home so far and can’t see how you lay almost a TD with them either. In fact they are just (2-8) ATS their last 10 games at Home as a Favorite. These game is a matchup of two teams going in the opposite direction. You can be sure they both may have a trick play, or three, up their sleeve for this one.

Enjoy the game and may all your wagers be Winning ones!
